Elusive Golden Goal the Sequel

Elusive Golden Goal the Sequel

The VCU men’s soccer team chased the elusive golden goal twice in less than 48 hours this weekend.  It was a grueling test of their endurance coming off Friday’s game to repeat another 110 minutes of play, but the Rams successfully kept the Explorers at bay.  They maintain their undefeated record in A-10 conference play and goal keeper Garrett Cyprus claims his 3rd consecutive clean sheet and 5th on the season.  VCU will earn 1 point for each of the ties towards their conference numbers.

The Rams took 5 shots on goal over the course of the game.  VCU controlled the majority of the possessions with 15 attempts and held La Salle to only 7 on their offensive attempts.  The strengths for both teams was focused on their defensive lines and their success in creating a shutout on both sides.

The Rams will hit the road for their next 3 consecutive games (October 24th, 26th and November 2nd) and return home for their final match against St Louis on November 7th.
