VCU Women’s Soccer Releases 2017 Schedule

Both VCU men’s and women’s soccer are known for their strong non-conference schedules. The women’s team released their 2017 schedule on Wednesday and it features three non-conference opponents who were NCAA Tournament teams the previous year.  The Rams put together an 8-10-1 season with a conference record of 4-6, just missing the A10 tournament.

8/8 Exhibition vs ECU

In 2016 ECU was 5-12-1.

8/11 Exhibition vs VMI

VMI went 8-12.

8/18 vs Iowa

Iowa finished 8-11 in 2016.

8/20 at Liberty

The Flames won the Big South Tournament last season and represented the league in the NCAA tourney. VCU defeated Liberty in Richmond last season, 2-1.

8/24 vs ODU

VCU is 6-0-1 in their last 7 meetings with the Monarchs.

8/21 vs American

The Black and Gold defeated AU 5-1 last September.

9/1 at Clemson

The Tigers advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament last season.

9/8 at Charlotte

The 49ers earned the C-USA’s auto bid to the Tournament in 2016.

9/10 at UNC Greensboro

UNCG went 7-11-1 last campaign.

9/14 vs Longwood

The Lancers were 8-10-2 with a 1-0 exhibition loss to VCU in 2016.

9/21 vs Dayton

The A-10 opener for the Rams. Dayton earned the A-10’s auto bid in 2016, the Flyers were 9-10-3. VCU defeated UD 1-0 in their last contest.

9/24 at Davidson

The Wildcats went 5-13-1, losing 2-1 to the Black and Gold last year.

9/28 at Duquesne

The Dukes were 11-6-3 with a 3-1 defeat of the Rams last season.

10/1 vs UMass

UMass shutout VCU 3-0 last October, for their only conference victory.

10/5 vs St. Joes

SJU complied an 18-2-2 record last year but fell to Dayton in the A-10 finals, 7-0.

10/8 at George Mason

GMU defeated the Rams 4-1 as a part of a 13-7-1 2016

10/12 at Richmond

VCU ended Richmond’s season with a 1-0 OT victory. The Spiders went 9-9-1.

10/15 vs St. Bonaventure

The two schools did not meet last year, SBU had a record of 4-14-1.

10/19 vs Rhode Island

URI put together a 6-8-5 year in 2016, losing in the A10 quarterfinals.

10/22 at La Salle

The Explorers lost in double OT to VCU during a 4-10-4 season.

A10 Tournament

The A10 quarterfinals will be hosted by the higher seed on 10/29. The semifinals (11/3) and final on (11/5) will be held at Sports Backers Stadium.
