Robby Robinson… You know, that guy that announces all the VCU men’s basketball games on 107.3 FM. Exactly, that guy. Well, he is known for his ecstatic, memorable, enthusiastic, and most importantly extraordinary calls. Below are some of his most memorable ones from the 2015-2016 season. I usually save my favorite for last, however I could not find one that was above and beyond all, simply because I love them all. I will not hold you up any longer. VCU vs. Cal PA (11/6/15):

“Seven seconds to go. Feeds it to Gilmore; Cal PA has given up and GILMORE DOES A BRIANTE WEBER IMITATION WITH THE WINDMILL DUNK!”

VCU vs. Duquesne (1/20/16):

“Cox HAS A ONE-HANDED DUNK! IT’S LIKE HE FOUND ANOTHER LEVEL OF DUNKING DID COX! And that’s how the half will end. VCU on top 44-31.”

VCU vs. ODU (11/28/15):

1. “Johnson, trying to create his own shot; he will do a three-pointer AND HIT IT! OH MY MELVIN!”
2. “Melvin, a three-pointer on its way. YES SIR! TIMEOUT ON THE FLOOR! WE’LL TAKE IT AS WELL! LISTEN TO THIS CROWD ON RAM RADIO! A TWO MINUTE BREAK!”

VCU at Richmond (1/16/16):

1. “Davis, top of the key; Jones will drive. Jones a layup no good; REBOUND FOLLOW IS NO GOOD WITH ONE SECOND! TO JOHNNY WILLIAMS WITH THREE, WITH TWO, WILLIAMS FADE AWAY JUMPER, NO GOOD! AND WE’LL GO TO OVERTIME! OH JOHNNY WILLIAMS COULD HAVE WON IT WITH THE FADE AWAY JUMPER FROM TWELVE, BUT WHY NOT HAVE FIVE MORE MINUTES OF BASKETBALL!”
2. “Now with 24 seconds left Taylor to Allen, Allen gets bumped by Johnson no call; fortunately. Eighteen seconds left here we go. Shawn’dre and Billbury with twelve seconds to go. This is it. Ten seconds. Shawn’dre with nine. Jones guarded, double-teamed, left side Davis, to Allen jumper for the win. SHORT, REBOUND JOHNSON HE’S FOULED WITH THREE SECONDS LEFT! AND A 90-89 VCU LEAD! TERRY ALLEN COULD NOT GET THE LEGS UNDER IT ENOUGH!”

VCU at George Washington (2/27/16):

1. “Mo splits two defenders, drives inside AND DUNKS IT WITH ONE HAND! AND MIKE I’VE NEVER SEEN A BASKET SO CLOSE TO COMING DOWN! OH MY GOODNESS! That’s got the Ram fans here in a frenzy.”
2. “Burgess has got to inbound underneath, feeds it off to the far sideline Lewis and he dribbles out of trouble with a fresh 30 and a buck eleven to go, oh my. JeQuan Lewis, left side, on the sideline, gets a screen, drives inside, feeds it off to Burgess, open three on its way, EUREKA! HE HITS THE TREY DOES JORDAN BURGESS! 65-63!”

VCU vs. Davidson (3/2/16):

1. “Lewis feeds inside to Cox AND HE WILL RAM HOME A DUNK! HANGING IN THE AIR; FIRING IT DOWN WITH AUTHORITY 20-14!”
2. “VCU GOES TO 22-8! DAVIDSON FALLS TO 17-11! 14-3 IN THE LEAGUE! And Mike Litos, Saturday we got Dayton, but before we talk about that, what a great night for Melvin, and Korey Billbury, and all of Ramnation.”

VCU vs. St. Louis (2/13/16):

1. “Williams to Johnson; a three in the far corner. IT CONTINUES TO RAIN THREES FROM EVERYWHERE!”
2. Hines shot is just HAMMERED, SPIKED IF YOU WILL, BY COX!”

VCU vs. UMass (3/11/16):

1. “Clark in the paint has his shot BOOTED BY MO ALIE-COX! Lewis comes away, feeds it to Melvin, Melvin to Tillman, AND HE WILL RIM ROCK A ONE-HANDED DUNK! SMILES ALL AROUND AS JUSTIN TILLMAN’S GOT EIGHT!”
2. “Clark falls down, picked up by Tillman feeds it up to Burgess a one on one with Space. Throws it up and GOOD AND ONE! SPACE HIT HIM AS HE FELL DOWN! THE BALL TRICKLES ALL AROUND THE RIM AND FALLS IN! EVERYTHING GOING RIGHT FOR THE RAMS IN BROOKLYN!”

VCU vs. GMU (1/2/16):

1. “Lewis will drive inside. Lays it up AND IN! HE TAKES IT COAST TO COAST IN A FLASH OF LIGHTNING!”
2. “Long pass again STOLEN BY MELVIN! HE’S GOT A WIDE OPEN OPPORTUNITY! MELVIN, THE LAYUP, GIVE IT TO HIM! Nineteen for Melvin. Timeout Dave Paulsen. This place is going nuts.”
3. “Hamdy makes a move, shoots, SCORES, AND ONE! OH HE ABUSES SHEVON THOMPSON INSIDE!”

VCU vs. Davidson (3/12/16):

1. “Out to the left wing Lewis with five on the shot clock, takes a deep three-pointer, EUREKA! JEQUAN HIS 35TH THREE OF THE SEASON’S A BIG ONE AND DEEP!”
2. “Ball on the lose floor picked up by Johnson. Rams win the battle and they win in the war. Here comes Lewis, a lob, COX! AND HE JAMS IT FROM TEN FEET AWAY! HE DID WHAT? 51-30 RAMS BY THREE TOUCHDOWNS!”
3. “Five seconds left before Richmond officially say that VCU is once again in the championship game. A 76-54 thumping of Davidson. And for the Rams, they will face St. Joes tomorrow at 12:30 for the right to defend their title.”

VCU vs. Oklahoma (3/20/16):

1. “JeQuan with a burst of speed into the front court, he slows down, rifles up a deep three AND IT’S GOOD! JEQUAN LEWIS HAS GOT ELEVEN! AND AMERICA IS LEARNING ABOUT LEWIS!”
2. “He will fake the three pointer. Gives to Cox. Cox will drive. HE WILL THEN DUNK FROM BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS! THE TWO-HANDED STUFF FROM COX!”
3. “The Ram’s season ends, but Mike a valiant effort by the black and gold. 85-81 on basically a road game in Oklahoma.”

VCU vs. Fordham (1/16/15):

1. “Lewis comes out like a flash, bounces it to Tillman, AND HE WILL RIFLE HOME A TWO-HANDED DUNK! OH MAN!”
2. “Williams on the run, feeds it into Hamdy, AND HAMDY WILL JAM IT WITH THE RIGHT HAND!”
3. “Williams will drive. His pass TO TILLMAN! WHO THROWS WITH THE TOMAHAWK OF THE YEAR!”
4. “Four on the shot clock. Scissum will drive. HE WILL STUFF IT AS HE GETS THROUGH! AND THE BENCH JUST ABSOLUTELY GOES BONKERS, BECAUSE OF THE SCISSUM DUNK!”

VCU vs. St. Bonaventure (1/24/16):

1. “JeQuan Lewis top of the key reverses it to Melvin Johnson. A deep NBA three for Johnson EUREKA! THAT’S WHAT HE NEEDED!”
2. “Williams inside; double-clutch off the glass and IT GOES, SOMEHOW, THE FINGER ROLL FROM HIS MID-DRIFT!”
3. “Up to Melvin Johnson, rises, fires for three, YES SIR! AND A TIMEOUT CALLED BY MARK SCHMIDT AND LISTEN TO THIS CROWD! OH THE SNOWPOCALYPSE WON’T KEEP THESE FOLKS DOWN! 55-54 BONNIES BY ONLY ONE!”
4. “Left side, Brooks dribbles, penetrates, LAYUP BROOKS HE GOT IT! 69-63 MARK SCHMIDT’S GOT TO CALL A T.O.! LISTEN TO THESE SNOW PEOPLE!”

VCU vs. Rhode Island (2/19/16):

1. “He splits two defenders, gives to Cox, HIS DUNK WILL FIRE EVERYBODY UP! GO CRAZY RAM FANS ON THE NIFTY DRIBBLING BY JEQUAN LEWIS AND THE FINISH BY COX!”
2. “Kicks it left side to Thompson. Shot REJECTED HAMDY! Thompson gets it back, shoots a three, AIRBALL! Rebound with five seconds this is Johnson with three, Johnson with two, to Billbury shot at the buzzer, OH MY! OH MY! GET IN THE LOCKER ROOM!”
3. “Johnson gets a screen. Pick and roll down to Cox. Cox OH ELEVATION AND A DUNK AGAIN! MAN THAT WAS A SUPER HUMAN MOVE BY MO ALIE-COX!”
4. “Melvin shakes, bakes, launches a deep three AND HE GOT IT AGAIN! OH MY MELVIN! THAT WAS IN FRONT OF THE BENCH! HIS FOURTH OF THE GAME! NINETY ON THE SEASON!”

VCU vs. Richmond (2/19/16):

1. “Out to Johnson. Wide open three for Melvin Johnson. GIVE IT TO HIM! HIS THIRD THREE, ONE MORE TO TIE B.A. WALKER!”
2. “Williams left side to the corner. Johnson, another three ball, EUREKA! JOHNSON HAS TIED B.A. WALKER 269 THREES! RAMS UP BY ELEVEN!”
3. “Johnson gives it up to Burgess. He’ll take the three-pointer. IT’S GOOD AND A TIMEOUT CHRIS MOONEY! 70-56 RAMS BY 14! WE’LL TAKE A FULL AT THE 9:23 MARK!”
4. “INTO COX AND HE WILL TOMAHAWK THE DUNK! GET OUT YOUR HATCHET MO ALIE-COX! CHOPPING WOOD!”
5. “Lewis gives to Johnson. Melvin Johnson the DUNK WITH TWO HANDS! THE TWO-HANDED FLUSH FROM JOHNSON! THE SENIOR PLAYING HIS LAST GAME AGAINST RICHMOND HITS THE DUNK 87-73!”

VCU vs. Oregon State (3/18/16):

1. “Burgess, down low to Hamdy. He’s triple-teamed. Hamdy inside got a good layup. SHOOTS, SCORES, AND FOULED! THE AND ONE FOR AHMED HAMDY AS HE GOES BASELINE!”
2. “Feeds it inside to Eubanks, his shot is BLOCKED BY COX! HE SAYS NO! Rebound Rams, Lewis, to Johnson, a three for Melvin. YES SIR! THE JOHNSON THREE GIVES THE RAMS THE LEAD BACK!”
3. “Lewis, he will relax. Now, he will get it TO COX! COX, A THUNDER DUNK HE’S FOULED AS MO ALIE-COX DRIVES IT HOME FOR THE AND ONE! OH MY!”
4. “Johnson into the lane jumper right hand is no good. Rebound Burgess, reverse layup GOOD AND ONE! THE AND ONE FOR BURG! WILL WADE THE DOUBLE FIST PUMP BY HIS HIPS! THE YELL, EXCITEMENT AS THE RAMS ON TOP BY TEN!”
5. “VCU fans rejoice. Cancel your plans for Sunday as the Rams win it 75-67.”

There you have it folks. These are all of Robby Robinson’s best calls of the season. I know I probably missed quite a few like I usually do, but as I mentioned before, if I were to post all of his most memorable calls from this season, you will be reading a never ending article.
